Poseidon’s Warrior, the sire of Grade 1 winner Firenze Fire, is standing the 2021 breeding season in Pennsylvania at Equistar Training and Breeding.
Swilcan Stables acquired Poseidon’s Warrior midway through his 3-year-old campaign. He would return immediate dividend when he won the $100,000 Hanover S. at Penn National. That race marked one of six times that the son of champion Speightstown would earn a triple-digit Beyer Speed Figure.
Poseidon’s Warrior would go on to achieve Grade 1 success in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt S. (G1) and account for three more stakes victories. He retired with earnings of $701,147 and won or placed in 11 stakes in 21 lifetime starts.
At stud, Poseidon’s Warrior’s most noted runner is the aforementioned Firenze Fire and was Florida’s leading freshman sire of 2017. Bred and owned by Mr. Amore Stable, Firenze Fire has earned more than $2.2 million to date. He has won an incredible seven graded stakes, including the Champagne S. (G1), True North S. (G2) and Vosburgh S. (G2) while competing at the highest levels from ages two through six.
Other runners of note by Poseidon’s Warrior include Navy Commander, winner of the Long Branch S., and multiple stakes-placed Splicethemainbrace.
Poseidon’s Warrior will stand this year for a fee of $3,000, stands and nurses.
